Hi All,

I'd love to get some feedback on what you think of the new forum platform. I'm hearing various negatives about it and how difficult it is to log in and get around - wondering if that's the majority feeling or if it's a vocal minority...

Do you find it more easy or more difficult to log into the forum than it used to be? What sort of difficulties do you have?
Do you like the new layout? How can it be improved - or should we revert?
Is the order of presentation OK - what would you change?

I didn't get a lot of time to sort the bugs out of the new system before we left cruising this year - so I'd REALLY appreciate any feedback I can garner from you - so that I can make appropriate changes during the coming inactive (sailing-wise) winter months...

Please respond with a reply here or by email to forum@oceancruisingclub.org

Many thanks,

Hello, my problems with the forum are as follows:

1. On Apple Mac OS X 10.14.6 and with its native browser Safari 12.1.2, I cannot properly type posts. If I it the “return” key after a paragraph, to create a new paragraph, the cursor disappears and it is no longer possible to type anything else. The only way to seems to be to select all text, cut it, and then paste it. Then the cursor becomes available again. Since this is evidently unworkable, I have gotten used to typing my text elsewhere and then pasting it into the forum.

2. I have had to store two different usernames/passwords for the OCC. For the main page and member’s page, my username is “xyz”. For the forum, my username is “xyz@myemail.com”. This did not use to be the case, but it became the case with the new forums.

3. When I reply to a previous post, I usually want to quote that previous post. On my Mac, I get a box with the entirety of the previous post, and a red button and a green bottom in the lower right bottom. I try to click on either one, and nothing happens, and I cannot type anything. So when I reply I don’t quote anything.

Other than that, the forum seems OK.

Best,

O.H.

Hi Bill,
The Forum works for me, but I do not think I ask much of it. I review recent postings and reply, both easy to do. I rarely, if ever, search and sometimes wander around but usually have limited internet access so I usually just touch base. The cruising destination information I found unworkable and did not meet my cruising questions, but l last looked quite a while ago.
My best, Dick Stevenson, s/v Alchemy
