Hi All,

I'd love to get some feedback on what you think of the new forum platform. I'm hearing various negatives about it and how difficult it is to log in and get around - wondering if that's the majority feeling or if it's a vocal minority...

Do you find it more easy or more difficult to log into the forum than it used to be? What sort of difficulties do you have?
Do you like the new layout? How can it be improved - or should we revert?
Is the order of presentation OK - what would you change?

I didn't get a lot of time to sort the bugs out of the new system before we left cruising this year - so I'd REALLY appreciate any feedback I can garner from you - so that I can make appropriate changes during the coming inactive (sailing-wise) winter months...

Please respond with a reply here or by email to forum@oceancruisingclub.org

Many thanks,

The fact there have been no postings on the fora for five days tells the story best, Bill. Members are staying away in their droves. Why? I will no longer have anything to do with Facebook, so left the OCC FB group, but while I was there, it was clear that all the social chat and exchange of information was happening there, not here. It's not that OCC members are an unsociable lot, it's that they will just gravitate to the place that's easiest to use and get along with. Maybe if the FB group didn't exist, there'd be more traffic here.

I can't help contrasting these fora with the other sailing group that I'm in, the JRA. We have one third the number of members, but at least half a dozen forum postings a day, many more when there's a hot topic under discussion. Why? Because although there's a FB junk rig group, and a Yahoo junk rig group, people have gravitated to the place that suits them best.

What's to be done? I don't know.
